The Joolca Story
Joolca was founded by Melbourne engineer Maciek Slodyczka. As he was writing his thesis on energy efficiency, he paid for the university studies by refurbishing old gas heaters and hot water systems. That’s when he realised that there was a gap in the market: the technology for gridconnected systems was well developed, but the existing designs for portable systems was severely lacking.
Himself an avid camper, Maciek decided to create something that he and his fellow engineer graduates would use. The result was HOTTAP, the world’s smallest water heater of its type. Providing endless hot water at the flick of a switch, it was a resounding success. With HOTTAP, Joolca was born.
One idea led to another, and Maciek’s engineer brothers Bart and Jack soon joined the business. Today, what started with one student’s curiosity and innovative spirit has become a full-service engineering company with thousands of customers. You’ll find Joolca’s office and showroom in Melbourne and our products in some 80+ stores right across Australia.
No matter how big we get, though, we’ll always stay true to our original values. We innovate, design and manufacture every last Joolca product to the same uncompromising standards. This is durable, compact and practical equipment, compatible with your familiar connections and batteries. It’s modular equipment that you can combine in any number of ways. And it’s equipment that we’re constantly tinkering with to make even better. You can expect us to listen intently to any ideas for improvements that you might have.
Through and through, we’re driven by a passion for smarter engineering.
